Step inside 20 inspiring interiors where beloved dogs feel
perfectly at home. You may have the coolest home on the street, but
a house is not a home without a dog. So how do you keep your
interiors Instagrammable when you have a canine companion, with all
the associated paraphernalia of feeding bowls, leads, beds and
toys? A dog owner for over 20 years, and a former home buying
manager at Selfridge's in London, Geraldine James is the perfect
person to show you how to incorporate dogs into your life without
sacrificing either your style or their freedom to roam. Whether you
live in the city, in the countryside or on the coast, your home can
still look good with only a few compromises. Geraldine also visits
the ‘design’ dogs – dogs belonging to designers whose
beautifully curated homes still manage to be canine-friendly.
Finally, there's a special section telling the stories of the
rescue dogs featured in the book, and highlighting the joy a rescue
dog can bring to your life and your home.

Makeover your home using these straightforward, fun, simple and
low-cost ideas to bring a POP of colour into your interior spaces
using paint, wallpaper, flowers, plants, cushions or throws. It
could transform your life too. Geraldine James' practical solutions
offer those who are not confident enough to embark on expensive
renovations ways to redecorate that can be easily reversed.
Encouraging us to experiment, she looks at different ways you can
bring colour into the home starting with adding single pops of
colour in a neutral space, such as red cushions, plates, bowls and
rugs in a living space then she looks at colour walls - painting a
single wall with a bright colour which can really lift a room
without much investment (and you can always repaint if you change
your mind). Or bring living colour into a room using flowers and
houseplants, terrariums and succulents. Or why not go for a
multi-coloured look with checks, stripes or floral patterns whether
that is by papering a wall, or painting a floor - the effects can
be bold and uplifting. Textiles too can bring a softer textural
layer of colour to a room whilst wall art can bring a focal point.
Whatever your choice of colour palette, Geraldine will offer the
perfect solution so get experimenting now.
Let Geraldine James show you how to reinvent your home with new and
exciting ways to make it uniquely yours. Whether you live in a
bustling home where a family of different ages with varying tastes
and interests needs to be accommodated, in a compact city pied a
terre, or in a country or seaside retreat, you will find
inspiration here for your ideal living space. The Creative Home
brings together the best of Geraldine James's Creative series of
books and shows how to apply these ideas in your own home. There
are four chapters on different areas of the house - Cook and Eat
features kitchens and dining areas, Relax and Socialize covers
living rooms, Work and Create includes home offices and studios,
and Sleep and Bathe, of course, shows bedrooms and bathrooms. A
final chapter, Store and Display, shows how your home can be used
to show off your treasures and store your collections. Each chapter
features rooms of different styles - from sleek and minimal, to
Aladdin's caves belonging to collectors of anything and everything,
thrifty chic-style rooms furnished with second-hand buys, and
renovated homes with no expense spared - as well as displays
featuring designer items alongside inherited family heirlooms.
However, the one thing every room has in common, whatever its style
or purpose, is that it has been furnished and decorated with great
attention to detail.

Mock-gothic children's drama set in Victorian England, based on the
novel by Joan Aiken. Bonnie (Emily Hudson) and her cousin Sylvia
(Aleks Darowska) are left at home in Willoughby Hall while their
parents travel abroad, with only the servants and the prowling
wolves for company. Things get even worse for the girls when
evil-looking governess Miss Slighcarp (Stephanie Beacham)
mysteriously turns up at the Hall, bearing news that Lord and Lady
Willoughby have gone missing overseas and that she will henceforth
be in charge of the house and the children's education.
